the thought of house buying scares me. The word recession has been thrown around an awful lot lately the past few months, and especially the past few weeks.
if you are financially stable enough (savings and job wise) to support a house through the next couple years your golden. In NOVA alone houses are 0ver $200k below 2007 tax assements. its really insane how good of a deal you can get. I figure with my house in baltimore and the two i plan to get in manassas, the equity once the market levels off and goes back on the upswing will be tremendous. The one thing you need to realize is that the gov't will not let the housing market stay down. Everyone realizes NOW how important it is to the economy.
it's a GREAT time for buyers.
i bought my house, brand new on an acre of land for 207.5k. it appraised for over 20k more than that, in a bad market.
i got a decent interest rate, but the kicker was all of the incentives i got. i paid no closing costs, got an appliance allowance, and even got money back at closing.
if you want to buy a house, now is the time. just make sure you get a fixed rate loan, for sure hahahaha. the variable rate is what has people loosing their houses right now. rates are getting jacked because no one is buying and feeding the mortgage companies money.
Yeah george, i'm still out in martinsburg. but it's in the country now. my place borders a 400 acre farm, there are deer in my back yard. i love it. still a two car garage too. i'll move in later this week, get pictures up later too.
if anyone wants a reccomendation to a realtor out here let me know. mine was superb.

As long as you can afford a fixed rate mortgage, you should be fine. Most of the people getting burned had either a interest only or ARM.
Filled up my tank today.
Drove around smelling gas, thought it was the gas residue on my hands.
Went into a grocery store to get some food.
Came out to my car, finding a puddle of gas underneath w/ gas steadily dripping out from somewhere on top the tank.
Drove back to work to raise it up and check the tank.
Found out that my fuel sending unit somehow got loosened.
Tightened it down and no more leak.
Replacing the o-ring once the fuel level has gone down.
Installing a Fuel pump? Make sure the fuel sending unit retainer is tighten down.
what?!?!! i put that pump in many months ago, you didn't take it apart again did you?
