IDK, but it's very possible that you hit a tow hitch and the crack continues to grow from stress and flex.
i just remembered...ro backed into me at summit point in the tech line before! no damage to our bumpers though!
Hitting something striaght on like a jersey wall at summit will cause that kind of damage. Pretty much anything thats taller then your bumper. George is correct, I didn't stitch it right away and the crack got bigger.
