Also some info I think would be useful if you're trying to troubleshoot.

There are 4 components:

1. Wiper control stalk
2. Time Control Unit (TCU)
3. Wiper amp (green box next to clutch master cylinder)
4. Wiper motor

The control stalks controls low, high, and variable speed, if you have it.

Low and high are pretty straight forward. Variable speed uses the TCU to trigger the low speed motor based on the time interval set on the control stalk.

The wiper amp is used in conjunction with the wiper motor to return the wipers to the base position.

Basically what happens is there is a switch in the motor that detects when the wipers are away from the base position. When you turn the wipers off and the key is still at ON II, the wiper amp will try to return the wipers to the base position.

Check the FSM for your specific year to see the wire colours.

Some of the common problems include:

* variable speeds don't work - check the fuse for your TCU. most likely if the TCU fuse is blown, some other timed accessories won't work either.

* wipers don't work at all - check wiper fuse

* wipers work but don't go down when you turn the switch off - check your wiper amp. the amp reads the position sensor in the wiper motor and gives current to the low speed motor to pull the wiper back to the down position

* only one of low or high speed doesn't work - check the wiring for the motor, including ground, or the motor itself is bad
