Hey guys, finally doing the 5sp swap to my 240sx, and was wondering about what clutch to get. It makes sense to upgrade the flywheel/clutch while the 5sp tranny is going in, so I'm getting a Fidanza flywheel and was eyeing the Exedy Stage 1 clutch. The engine is bone stock atm, so I don't want to go overboard with the upgrades, but I'd like the flywheel/clutch to be an improvement over stock.

Is this a good combination for daily driving? Any advice is much appreicated.
Thanks.
as long as you use a disk type (looks like stock) it will be mild mannered. the pluck types are known for harsh engagement.
exedy type one is perfect for a stock car .. once you begin to work on it though it will not be enough. so if you plan on turboing etc.. or drifting i would think about a stage 3 ish they are definitely manageable up to around stage 4 or once you leave sprung clutches.. then they begin to be hard to daily.
Thanks for the advice guys. I plan on doing the basic upgrades first (intake/headers/exhause), then maybe some crank/underdrive pulleys.
Eventually I'll turbo the KA, but thats much further down the road.
eventually...like 3 years down the road? get just a stage one exedy then. My stage one held 2x WHP on the miata. Stage 2 held give or take 350whp on a friends built sr. and is still good to this day.
Thanks for the advice guys, looks like Exedy Stage 1 it is

Lol, hopefully not that long. I wanted to do basic mods to the KA, then work on suspension/brakes/wheels/etc.
Adding a turbo to the KA would be the icing on the cake Stictongue
You can never have too much clutch, well almost. I would get a sprung, 6 puck, stage 3. The pedal feel if not bad, grab is instant, and with it being sprung you won't be replacing tranmissions left and right.

Man up, stage 1 is for pussies, get a stage 3.

Sounds nice, but I'm assuming stage 3 clutches are for engines have a significant amount of work done to them, not stock or lightly modded engines.
And from what I hear, 6 puck clutches aren't ideal for daily driving.

I haven't bought the clutch yet, so you still have time to persuade me Wink2
i'd recommend a chromoly steel flywheel vs the fidanza aluminum.

Apparently the aluminum ones like to shatter. I've never personally seen it happen or even read about it. Food for thought.

What kind of driving are you planning?
drifting? drag racing? street racing?
