Well, I need some options.

I cracked the welds on my HKS exhaust manifold and need them fixed. If anyone has seen one, the welding on it is rediculous. I need a quality, precise welding job done. I know some of you on here do weld (lee, victor) but I'm really looking for a professional shop to do it. Or at least someone who has good TIG experience with manifolds.

I know Piper does very nice work, but they are quite expensive. Last time they did some welding for me their rate was $85/hr. Likely higher now. That was aluminum so I can understand, but this job would likely take longer than 1-2 hours. I know they are VERY busy too, would take some time to get it back I assume. They are most likely to get my business though if I can't find another option.

The cracks are on the welds themselves on the inside (flange side) of the collector up to one of the runners. I assume they will have to be ground down and re-welded. Very tight quarters in there so I'm a bit apprehensive about back yard mechanics being able to help.

So......who would you suggest? Somewhere local to the NOVA/DC/MD area would be nice. If you don't want to post for what ever reason, PM me.

Thanks guys.

If anything post up pics of the cracked area in question... jus cuz its back-yard doesnt mean its not quality..
I've got nothing...maybe you should man up and get a full race manifold(burn). Or you could buy like 10 megan or SSAC manifolds for the same price and just throw them in the trash when/if they they crack

lmao... Cuz HKS isn't good enough?!?!
True, but i did technically get it for free, and the flange is fucking retarded thick.

it broke due to my fault. i have no flex section in my exuast and when i disconnect the exhaust from the cat, it twists and hangs to the floor because of the S1X's poor hanger design. i'll be adding another or two to hold the exhaust in place better.

i don't wanna swap manifolds ever again. fuck that noise. i'm sure this one would be fine if i fix them other issues.

and victor, never did i say backyard would be non quality. i'm just saying, at a shop a "professional" is being payed to do it. that product better not go back to the shop due to inconsistencies or that dude might get in trouble. i pay a back yard dude, shit breaks and guess what? too fucking bad, boo-hoo etc. that's my take, back yard guys have nothing to loose and might not give it the attention i desire. again, no offense, but those guys are pro's and are employed as such.

i'll have to look alex up, see what he can do for me.
james evans?

any reason behind that?

I've had issues JE wise. He has some bad people working for him. Or at least he did a while back. They did some funky stuff with justins motor too. (oil pickup can i have it?)

need a reason for a reccomendation, not just a name....
Just shut up and bring it to us Austin. How bad is the crack? Pic?
+1 for alex he used to fabricate cages and manifolds for brauning motorsports near fredericksburg big honda shop. he has quality welds. but if he's busy try Henderick @ HK welding he does the welding for VIP (VIP Garage sucks ass ) but henderick is awsome dispite the shop he works for. 703-864-7865 I'd go with either one.
